The US Army released a study saying that found that within the next 20 years, Americans could face a troubling future due to climate change involving disease, thirst, starvation, war, but what they determined is most at risk is our power grid: "the cascading effects of power loss [due to climate change]… would rapidly challenge the military’s ability to continue operations.”
Clayton Tucker will fight to keep Texans' environmental security by pushing Texas to become the wind and solar energy capital of America. Texas already produces more electricity from wind than from coal. Clayton calls for complete renewable energy by 2030.
No Corporate Eminent Domain
Clayton Tucker will ban private corporations from using eminent domain.
Pipelines should not cut through population centers, aquifer recharge zones, and/or areas of great environmental heritage. This includes the Texas Hill Country.
Clayton Tucker believes Texas should help rural communities replace any old or leaking water mains.
Green Urban & Rural Jobs
Texas wind farms and solar farms should be built by Texans for Texans. This will create high-quality urban jobs (for manufacturing) and rural jobs (installation and maintenance).
21st Century Cash Crops
Clayton Tucker believes Texas should provide low-interest loans to farmers to install solar panels and/or wind turbines on their land, then have them either use the energy themselves or sell the energy to the grid.
Money may not grow on trees, but with the right tools, it does flow in the wind and shines from the sun.
Any locality that bans fracking should not have their local control overturned by the state. Clayton Tucker believes in local control.
Green Local Governments
Clayton Tucker believes Texas should provide low-interest loans to local governments to install solar panels and/or wind turbines on their land, then have them either use the energy themselves or sell the energy to the grid with the stipulation that the savings are passed on to local residents via lowering property taxes.
Corporations abuse the Equal and Uniform Loophole to not pay their fair share. This will raise $5 billion per year in public money for Texas.
